Light is sweet, and it pleases the eyes to see the sun. So if a man lives many years, let him rejoice in them all.

Many have signed up for the “Light is Sweet” newsletter.  Thank you and welcome to you all.

You can read this newsletter on my website.  If you are not yet subscribed you can sign up on my site.

Whatever you find to do with your hands, do it with all your might, for in Sheol, where you are going, there is no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom. This month has been occupied with a new commission and being in Radloff Park.

The Apple Orchard

I have been asked to paint a series for Apple Orchard paintings for a company providing Nitrogen for the apple industry.  I have completed two starter versions

Version 3 is designed and drawn and I have started the painting process. My plan is to complete it next week.

Paintings in the park

I have also been in painting watercolours in our beautiful Radloff Park.  The park under the mountain with a river running through it.  While I paint I set up a table with a stack of my remaining “Local Stories” calendar.  People stop by to see the painting, to chat.  And I will post it when it is done.

Four paintings in the park

Here I am painting the river:

And here, if I turn around and cross the path, I can set up to paint the Helderberg:

Another day in the office…

Bread on the water

Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days.  Divide your portion among seven, or even eight, for you do not know what disaster may befall the land.… (Take the risks but diversify your offer – or – be generous and caring with all you have)

This month I continue to set up my work in my online gallery.  I am in the process of posting watercolours in the category “Produce”.  I had a lot of fun painting a hundred give-away fruit paintings for my son’s wedding.

I carefully scanned each painting at a high resolution, with a view to creating a fabric print.  But I lost them all by putting them on One Drive which I discovered is not simply a cloud version of external storage.  Sigh – anyway – moving on… I am creating the stock again which I will post on my “Produce” gallery.  As Summer progresses I will ask my friend Erika for another supply of pomegranates and quinces

I am also posting the stock I have as originals and prints.  I am also going to create some Produce posters for print. So all my friends in Hout Bay. Come over and have a good coffee, buy some more Lime Marmalade and come and say “howzit”.

Eyes off the wind, ignore the clouds

He who observes the wind will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap.

I will be in Hout Bay this weekend to present my work at the First Fruits Farmers Market.  They are also planning an evening market which I would like to attend.  Each time I go there I aim to improved my market offer by one step.  Tomorrow I will have my last stock of calendars as well as some prints packaged, ready to sell.
