The watercolour on this page comes from a collection of watercolour sketches on the Touw River in Wilderness. It was a disappointing work. I used the page to protect my laptop screen from the keyboard.

One day, in a meeting, a friend exclaimed on how she liked the painting. I looked again. mmm yes – It really is a “nice little painting”. I collated my Ebb & Flow watercolours. They make a great wall-hanging. Now when I see this little watercolour, I remember making cocoa on a rock-ledge just off the path, a little way upstream from the Ebb & Flow campsite. I can hear the Sombre Bulbuls. I remember waking up in an empty campsite, showering and donning business attire to consult to clients in George. A whole chapter, illustrated in watercolour. Oh yes, and I remember Nicholas, my first ever watercolour teacher who used to say “That’s a nice little painting”.

Now I present these stories, along with the work on Collections coming out of my studio. Once a month I send out my newsletter “Light is Sweet” in which I point to stories, watercolour collections and plans for the future. OK, “once a month” may be a stretch of the truth.
