The early paintings of the Manor House seem to indicate that the lines of plane trees are a more recent feature of the estate. The cool shade in summer, golden glows in Autumn and the stark graphic lines of winter each lend a different feeling to the scene.
The Manor House glows in the evening sun. In Winter the trees create a graphic frame around the Pieke, the gable and the gate-post. The dry branches of the trees in front of the Manor House stand out against the dark roof.
Always there are the eagle statues on the gate posts.
And the Pieke as a backdrop.
