Grösse Spitskop – Namibia
This iconic inselberg with the graceful curve conveys so much of the mystery of the Namib. Positioned just within the extremities of the desert itself there is a mix of the toughest plants with the trees of the savannah and always an air of adventure and a beckoning to the North.
Spitskop was a popular escape in my early days as a watercolourist. I remember desiccated, hot morning breezes after nights under stars. I remember the climb to the summit with Aura, and with various friends.
I also remember wondering how ever to capture the rocks in watercolour.
And here we are…
