Rock Pool on Eerste River
In the upper reaches the Eerste River flows around large rocks and through lively pools. Every here and there the river pauses in calm pools where the watercolourist has an opportunity to wrestle with all the information. Refractions, reflections, shadows affect what you can see on top of and below the surface.
It is a wonderful exercise in seeing what is there. This is the benefit in painting scenes like this. It means the artist sees the same complexity in similar scenes wherever they are. This is a gift.
