Description

Boulders Beach

Boulders Beach was a favourite place for a day at the beach. The rocks, the beach and the calm waters makes this a beautiful place to enjoy False Bay. This view looks across to Elsies Peak and Muizenberg.
Then at about the turn of the century the dress code went up. Jackass penguins began nesting amongst the granite boulders (This is a joke – referring to the formal-looking attire of penguins). They are called ‘Jackass’ because they make a sound very similar to the braying of a donkey.
The penguins are threatened as they have to travel further and further afield to feed, which impacts on their capacity to breed.
