Watercolour seascape beach painting at The Pipe

On the 29th of January 2016 I started a project to create one watercolour a day.  For a year.  And this was the painting I did on that day.
The dune next to the boardwalk is one of my favourite places to sit and paint the mountains across the bay.

It was not long before I realised why they call it a “365 day challenge“.  I would sometimes get to late at night preparing for a client workshop and before collapsing into bed I would realise “my painting” then I would put a fruit on the kitchen table and do a watercolour sketch of it.  These turned out to be a lot more difficult than expected and often got the most likes on Instagram.

But there you are.

This fellow came to the end of the boardwalk and lit up a smoke.  He looked like he was going to hang around a while so I decided to stop looking around him and include him in the painting.  But just after I had completed my sketch he stubbed his cigarette out and dropped it between the boards and left (he was a litter-bug).  Not an unusual pattern of events.
